Parental Instincts in the Animal World

In light of the approaching mating season for avian and quadrupedal species alike (and in recognition of Mother's Day), this collection brings into focus the universal phenomenon of parental instinct.

Moving beyond a strictly human conception of love, it considers how care, protection, and sacrifice manifest across species within the natural world. In the featured paintings, each species is captured in a moment of parental care with the avian shown feeding their young, and the mammals in presence of their young children.

By underscoring these particular paintings, the collection invites viewers to consider not only the diversity of parental strategies, but also the continuity between human and animal worlds In doing so, it suggests that the impulse to care for one's young, however differently expressed, is neither uniquely human nor purely sentimental, but a fundamental and enduring force across life itself.
