Government Documents
Schaffer Library at Union College is proud to mark 125 years as a participant in the U.S. Government Publishing Office's Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), having joined the program on May 17, 1901.
This long-standing involvement highlights Union College's deep commitment to public service and information transparency.
The FDLP, which GPO has operated since 1895, ensures that the public has free access to federal documents through a network of participating libraries across the nation. Together, the libraries and GPO work to keep America informed. The program's history dates back to an act of Congress on December 27, 1813 (3 Stat. 140), which mandated that one copy of the journals and documents of the Senate and House be sent to every university, college, and historical society in each state.
We invite you to browse some of the treasures from this historic collection.
