Chris Duncan: Recent Work
-
Overview
-
This annual faculty exhibition features recent sculpture and works on paper by Chris Duncan, Professor of Visual Arts at Union College. Duncan’s vibrant, playful abstractions are imbued with a sense of immediacy and energy. Both the two and three-dimensional works evoke movement, emotion and memory. For Duncan, the process is central to the final form, and what occurs during the making of each piece causes an evolution in form from the concept to the completion. Adding and subtracting material Duncan works until a perfect moment of tension exists between line and volume, solid and void, gravity and balance.
